Rest Of Battalion Returning Around 4/21/07

UPDATE

The 3rd Battalion, 14th Marines, 4th Marine Division, located at 2838 Woodhaven Rd, Phila. PA  have been deployed to Iraq  in support of Iraqi Freedom. 

They will be returning between the last week of March (forward detachment of app. 25 Marines) then the main body of the unit  sometime during the last 2 weeks of April (app. 200 Marines) and then the rear detachment of about 50 Marines.  The Marines and Families of the 3/14th Marines would like to provide a welcome home
to the unit. 

The Marines will be returning to Camp Lejeune, NC for de-mobilization prior to returning to Philadelphia.  They will be then returning to the Phila area by bus.  It looks like they will be met at the Pa/Del state line by the Pa State Police and Rolling Thunder and now, the Patriot Guard Riders.

We have been inivted to help provide an honor escort from the PA/Del line to NE Philaelphia, and I (Lutz) have been asked by the PA State Captain to be the Ride Captain for this happy mission.
There will be approximately 1000 family members at the unit awaiting the return of the main body.  Representatives from the Marine Corps League, Inc are attempting to make this the most memorable "welcome home" celebration ever, and we will be there to help accomplish that goal!

I am already in contact with the Marines and with State and Local LEO.
Unfortunately, we do not yet have an exact date for the main body return. We only know that this will PROBABLY be a weekday, and PROBABLY one day during the last two weeks of April. This lack of information is a security precaution. A mission forum will be posted for this mission.

3/14 Marines Return Home 4/21/07

  I have attended many support the troops events but this one was quite a day. I am proud to be a member of the Patriot Guard Riders.
